Description
Another high-quality, handcrafted, Amish-made product brought to you by Olde World Products, Inc.      Looking for a new Amish quilt?  Look no further!   Here's your chance to own a beautiful piece of craftsmanship at a nominal price.   This quilt would make a perfect wedding, birthday or anniversary gift! This Amish quilt was purchased at a charity auction known as a "Mud Sale" in Pennsylvania.  Each year starting mid February through the first Saturday in April these "Mud Sales" are held to raise money for the local volunteer fire departments throughout Lancaster County and its surrounding areas in Pennsylvania.  The auctions are called "Mud Sales" because it's usually very muddy due to the snow melting and the ground thawing. This quilt design is known as "Mariner Star" and is a pieced quilt with extensive handquilting.   Primary colors are navy blue and burgundy.  There is one section of fabric (inside points of the circle around the center compass) that is a brown background with yellow and mauve flowers.  The quilt has navy blue binding on all four edges.  Edges are straight; not scalloped.    There are some thread tails visible.  I left them attached because this is how I bought the quilt.  This allows you to better see how the work is done. This quilt is very big.  It measures 100-inches by 113-inches, so it is definitely a king or a very large queen.  It is pictured on a pillow top queen bed with a short footboard (I draped it over the footboard).   As you can see it is really too big for the bed it's pictured on.  Would look fantastic on a King Bed!  Please email before purchasing if you have any questions or want more pictures. (HB625) There are still some pencil marks visible, but they will probably disappear after the first washing.  The Amish use pencils to mark the quilting templates so they know where to stitch.  The quilt is made of cotton and is machine washable in cool water.  The Amish recommend adding 1-cup vinegar to the first wash to set the colors.   Can be machine dried on low, but air drying is best.  Please see our other items for more handcrafted items.  We bought several more quilted items (bed quilts, wall hangings, quilt tops, quillow, pillow covers, etc.) at this and other charity auctions, so be sure to bookmark our store and check back periodically to see what's new.  When possible, multiple purchases will be shipped together to reduce shipping costs.  Please wait for an invoice from us with your total shipping costs when making multiple purchases.  Please email if you have any questions, or need anything else. Be sure to stop by our eBay store to see other handcrafted items.  In fact, you may want to add us to your favorites list so you can check back periodically to see our new items!
